DIY Neon Jewelry

Thursday, March 22, 2012

I dig the idea of simple DIY projects that pack a powerful punch and I especially love bold, vintage jewelry! This post is the best of both worlds, bringing back some 50's/80's nostalgia! I've been admiring these Tom Binns neon bib necklaces but the hefty price tag is not something i'd feel comfortable shelling out on a seasonal trend.

Ok, so you may not want your bridesmaids wearing anything fluorescent per se, but the beauty of these custom creations is that you can put together your ideal color combos! Pastel neons are so in right now and are the perfect non-bridal bride(smaid) accessory for a Spring and Summer wedding. (Imagine a neutral/taupe sheath dress accented by neon peach or mint jewels.. perfection! :) I've seen these upcycled rhinestones re-done with nail polish, acrylic or spray paint. Just brush a couple coats over the stones and voila, a new statement piece you'll be excited to wear, or give!

I've heard of 'make your own bouquet' parties, how about a 'design your own accessory' party? Who's game for some bridesmaid bonding time!?

This is a wonderful idea! I've often wanted to buy one of those necklaces but the price was too much.
