Below is a recent interview with Sherry Younge, along with photos of the Artform Studio Salon team's work.
Enamor Events: How long have you been doing hair, where did you train?
Sherry: I have been doing hair for 13 years and make up for 6 years. I trained at Carlton Hair International where I first started and through the years I have trained at Vidal Sassoon and Redken in New York.
Enamor Events: What projects have you worked on?
Sherry: Projects for wigs, hair, and make up that I have worked on as well as my team, Noriko Latour and Shamika McElroy did a 70's era movie, "Black Dynamite, a feature film and their Public Service Announcements to keep kids off drugs. We also did a music video for Adrian Younge and the Black Dynamite Sound Orchestra called "Shot Me in the Heart."
A 50's era short film where Sherri Silva, Noriko Latour and I did wigs, hair, and make up styling was called the "Splendorettes." Where we recently shot in Catalina Island at the Avalon Theatre.
Avante garde short films called "Evolution" where my team and I did hair and make up styling and Diablo where we made hair pieces, hair and make up. Noriko Latour one of my collegues at the salon who did Special Effects make up.
I've have done hair and make up for TV Commercials for Ditech.com, the General Insurance, and BMW.
As far as press junkets, Noriko Latour and I did make up for Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, and Scott Sanders for Black Dynamite and I assisted make up artist Scott Barnes for "Le Divorce" for Kate Hudson.
I have done wig styling and hair styling for theatrical productions such as "Sweeney Todd" and "Maria, Maria, Maria."
Wedding hair and make up for some of our brides and bride's maids photographs have made it on bridal magazines. My team and I have traveled to Santa Barbara, Malibu, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, San Diego, San Jose, Las Vegas, and Honolulu.
I have worked with Kasil and It jeans company doing hair and make up for their catalogs.
Hairstyling for Bloomingdale's prom fashion show.
Our own projects at the Artform Studio salon on Era photo shoot parties where we do era specific hair and make up styling for 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.
Enamor Events: What are you passionate about?
Sherry: Hair is what I'm most passionate about and then Make up is icing on my cake.
Enamor Events: What other specialties/services do you provide?
Sherry: The Artform Studio salon team provides services such as facial waxing, facials, minx nails, eye lash extensions, Brazilian Blow outs, Yuko Japanese hair straightening, hair extensions, hair relaxing, hair cuts, hair color and highlights.
Enamor Events: What do you think sets you and your team apart from other salons?
Sherry: We are an international team of Filipina, Japanese, African American, and Caucasian women where we are knowledgeable in all hair types.
Enamor Events: What can brides/bridesmaids expect from you?
Sherry: Professionalism, puntuctuality, and perfection.
Enamor Events: How much does an in home appointment cost?
Sherry: We set our standard prices with travel fees and parking fees.
Enamor Events: What else does The Artform Studio Salon have going on?
Sherry: We currently host a children's party called Baby Get Down where we have a mini service menu of nail art, face painting, hair styling, make up touch ups, and massage. 10% of proceeds go to your school of choice. We donate your bags of clothing to a woman and children health center for discounts on our ERA photo shoot parties.
