Flowers For Every Season

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

I am personally not a fan of roses, I enjoy more exotic flowers that have a simple elegance to them, if that makes sense. When we got married in September, I was really excited to find out that dahlias were a late summer flower. However, I found out the day before our wedding, that particular flower was not available at the LA flower mart :(

I know we all google images and look at other bride's bouquets for inspiration but if I may suggest to you, before getting your hopes up, first find out if the flower of your choice is: in season, available locally and if you can afford it. I know I wanted certain orchids as well for our center pieces, but my florist was able to suggest a comparable candidate, as it would have been quite costly doing that for 30 tables. Luckily we were still able to have the orchids because when we shortened the height of the vase, we didn't need as many orchids! There's always a creative way to get around it! (You'll see this re-curring theme throughout my real-life wedding stories :)

I found this flower generator where you plug in the colors, seasons, area you live etc and it recommends flowers for you. How cool is that!
